Tslammer Posted March 21, 2009 #1 Share Posted March 21, 2009 Going to cozumel, do you rent equipment or buy it? Is it used and is it sanitary? I know my wife will balk at trying it, because someone else has used it? I guess I really dont have a clue, please explain the process. jdbmga Posted March 21, 2009 #2 Share Posted March 21, 2009 Sometimes equipment is included in the price, sometimes you have to rent it. It has been used b4 (again and again). I would suggest buying your own equipment, at least mask and snorkel. A proper fitting mask is important. Try your local scuba shop.

I would suggest buying your own equipment, at least mask and snorkel. A proper fitting mask is important. Try your local scuba shop. That's the best advice. My second choice would be to go to Megla-low-mart and buy at least a snorkel. My third choice would be to bring dome disinfectant wipes to wipe down the mouthpiece of the rented snorkel. Also, while I was searching for snorkeling excursions a couple of months ago, I noticed some skippers mentioned everyone who needs gear gets a new, in the shrink wrap snorkel. It's cheap, new, and you take it with you. Look for that as you search excursions, and maybe ask via email if you can.
Islandbear Posted March 21, 2009 #4 Share Posted March 21, 2009 Some snorkeling tours provide a new snorkel, you will have to check with them if they do or not. I would buy a cheap set either at a dive shop or local sports store. you and your wife will enjoy it a lot more with a well fitting mask and your own snorkel.
