Can anyone tell me in their opinion the name of the BEST beach resort in St Thomas. I have heard about Emerald Beach resort but none others.

We are looking at buying a day pass at a beach resort and do not know what resorts are available.

Thanks for your help.

I went to the Emrald Beach resort website and they do not sell day passes. The website says no day passes required.. Has anyone been to this resort? It looks nice just wanted to hear from other

cruisers..

Thnkas for the reply.

St. Thomas is really the kind of island where folks just go to the beach - Magen's Bay, Coki, Sapphire Beach, Secret Harbor to name a few. You hop on one of the Safari taxis and off you go. When you get there you can rent lounge chairs. Most places have changing facilities and beach bars for food and drink. Some beaches have snorkeling and jet skis.

Was there a particular reason you wanted to spend the extra money to access a resort? I can understand wanting to do that on some islands, but St. Thomas is not one of them.

The Emerald Beach resort looks very nice and doesn't cost a thing to access it according to the website. You only pay for the watertoys, chairs, food, drinks, etc. Their pool area looks pretty and the part of the beach they are located at is very nice. Looks nicer than at Sapphire beach..

How long of a taxi ride is it to Emerald Beach? does anyone know. Also. what are Safari t axis?? Like buses??

Thanks,

You can go to the beach at any of the beach resorts, however none except Bolongo sell day passes for non-guests to use amenities intended for guests (for example the pool). At the other beach resorts most will rent chairs to non-guests and non-guests can rent watersports equipment and they can buy food/drinks at the restaurants/bars.

Carla - Crown Bay to Emerard Beach is a few minutes drive, you can walk it in say 15-20 minutes one way. From Havensight its about a 15-18 minute drive in low/medium traffic. With traffic longer, more ships means more traffic. Safari taxis are taxis, safaris are a type of vehicle they use. Its a truck with the truck bed outfitted with bench seating, covered, open air.
