mjtripper Posted March 24, 2009 #1 Share Posted March 24, 2009 We are a party of 2 and am looking to spend a few hrs in the afternoon at Magens Beach. We were thinking of taking a taxi from the pier to the beach. We are on Carnival. How much will the taxi cost? How far is the beach from the pier? Are there beach chairs to rent and cost? Will the beach be too crowded if we leave for the beach in the afternoon? thanks for your help.
richtersl Posted March 24, 2009 #2 Share Posted March 24, 2009 Taxi information on getting to and from Magen's Beach from either Crown Bay or Havensight can be found by searching the forum. There's plenty of information on that. :) Just click on the Search link (top of the screen, third from the right) and enter something like magen's taxi as the search term. As far as the beach being crowded, that depends on the time of year you head there. During the summer months, crowds will not be an issue. Just go over there and enjoy! But if you're heading there in the winter months crowds will definitely be an issue, especially in the early afternoon. In that event, just walk to the water and head toward your left until the crowd thins out. You may need to walk a bit of a distance.
caribsun Posted March 24, 2009 #3 Share Posted March 24, 2009 Cab will run around $9.00 p/p ea way, admission to the bay another $3.00. The beach can get crowded right near the drop off point and around the food stand. It's a long beach, just walk away from the crowds.
PhxPhin Posted March 24, 2009 #4 Share Posted March 24, 2009 admission is $4pp - the cab from crown bay cost us $8 pp - the cab from magens back to havensight was also $8pp (if you have more than an individual the rate is a little lower - if solo I think it was $10) they did have lounge chair, floats, snorkel equipment and upright chairs for rent - rental bin opens at 9:30am and there were still chairs for rent when we dropped ours off just before noon the lounge chairs are $7 a piece plus an additional $5 deposit - we rented two so we had to pay out $24 and received $10 back when we got the chairs it did get pretty busy as the day went on - although it's a very long beach and the spots way down to the left looked pretty open - also, if you walk out to the rope you can move past the crowd in the actual water we saw a couple rent a pair of floats and then just lay their towel over that for laying on the beach - didn't seem like a bad idea spent about $20 for a pair of grilled cheese sandwiches, a couple sodas and a water was about 20-30 minutes cab ride i absolutely loved it there - saw a turtle swimming about, an iquana shuffling at the back of the beach, little fish that were jumping out of the water and even a little shark that was more than happy to eat the little fish
