Price Change - Need Help

Help! The price of our cruise just dropped using the PR1 code for Resident's. I booked thru a TA and have only made a deposit, final payment not due until April. The TA gave me a $200 discount under the Carnival price at the time of booking (I guess from her commission). Now the Carnival price dropped $300, should I still be expecting $200 under the new price? I also assume I have to go thru my TA. I appreciate feedback for my conversation with her tomorrow.

YES, you have to speak to your TA..... Will they offer the additional $200.00 discount BELOW the new fares you are seeing... Not Likely. But never hurts to inquire how they are going to handle this given that they are already losing commission and now taking another hit.

I assume the TA pays Carnival the rate that I can see or less, therefore aren't they still making a good commission?

Commission is only based on the cruise fare (excluding port charges/taxes/fees)..... not as much $$$ as you may think there is when they are only making say 10 - 15% on that cruise fare and then rebating some of their profits to reduce your cruise fare !

You should be able to get the current price Carnival is charging, which is still $100 less than you are paying now.

I can't speak to what your TA will do, however, as a previous poster stated, commission is only paid on the cruise fare, and that dropped $300, so now it's less commission he/she will make. I wouldn't expect they will want to give up even more of it in the form of rebating.
