webbdavis Posted November 30, 2004 #1 Share Posted November 30, 2004 On formal Nights, do you have to wear a suit or can I get by with a shirt and tie, nice jacket and nice pants? If it is ok will I feel awkward or do a lot of people do this
bh2359 Posted November 30, 2004 #2 Share Posted November 30, 2004 I've now been on 12 cruises. Each time, I ask the Maitre'd if my outfit is okay for formal night. Maroon dress jacket, black pants, and tie. I've never been told no.
bUU Posted November 30, 2004 #3 Share Posted November 30, 2004 Even though we were very well dressed on Casual Night, our server went out of his way to encourage us to come to Formal Night dressed any way we chose. It is clear that RCI is capitalizing on its active, more casually-oriented, "get out there" perspective, leaving more traditional cruise sensibilities for its premium brand, Celebrity. By the same token, the range isn't all that broad. While we didn't actually see anyone in a tux on Formal Night on our last cruise, we didn't see anyone in shorts or bluejeans either. dougp26364 Posted November 30, 2004 #4 Share Posted November 30, 2004 You'll be fine. On our last cruise I was one of the few wearing a tux during late seating. At least in the area of the dining room we were in. Everyone else was wearing a suit, sports coat or just a shirt and tie. Formal night was more like was smart casual night used to be. dfgf Posted November 30, 2004 #5 Share Posted November 30, 2004 You'll be fine, trust me. It's AMAZING to see what they actually let people wear on formal nights!
