jonsul Posted March 30, 2009 #1 Share Posted March 30, 2009 A little while ago I found a posting on the Cunard Line thread about a website with printable one sheet translation for many languages. I can't find the post anywhere now I need it! I printed the Polish sheet off for my daughter in December, and it was very useful for her. I know it was on the Cunard thread because I haven't looked at any other (other than the Europe one which I have only recently started to use), and have tried putting a search on, but to no avail. Has anyone bookmarked the site and can let me have the address? Many thanks Susan

somewheresoon Posted March 31, 2009 #3 Share Posted March 31, 2009 There is an American - British sheet. Here are some extracts (offered with love, a wink, and the certainty that an equivalent Briitish - American sheet exists somewhere....). Bacon = 100% pure carbon Carbon = someone else's problem Fine dining = Supersized Big Mac with slice of processed cheese International diplomacy = a B52 England = The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland Cute = The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland Conveniently placed runway for B52's = see above. Football = fat blokes running into each other Yoorup = any bit of the world where white foreigners live Ancient history = the day before yesterday Evolution = a bizarre theory at odds with the words of Jay-zus Islam = a bizarre theory at odds with the words of Jay-zus Ronald Reagan = Jay-zus Affordable health care for the poor and needy = communism Fascism = liberal Mexico = part of Texas Canada = big boring bit on the way to Alaska Alaska = only good thing that ever came out of Russia Russia = where the B52's go to unload Cunard = opportunity to wear fancy dress and meet typical Bridish people G20 = expression of disappointment at dress size G8 = expression of disappointment at dress size (California version) Broiled = grilled Grilled = tortured Fried = isn't everything? World peace = see under B52 Plaid = I've honestly no idea Cut-offs = dress uniform Fags = don't inhale for God's sake Fanny-pack = not remotely what you think it is
