Intro Snorkeling for a 9-yr-old

We're cruising next Saturday to Cozumel and I'm trying to find a place to take my 9-yr-old grandson to see a good variety of tropical fish on his first snorkeling adventure. He is a very strong swimmer, but not very experienced with a snorkel and mask in the ocean.

Here's the catch: he lives on the central FL Atlantic coast so booking a normal beach excursion, like Paradise Beach, is not a big deal for him. However, while his local home beach is good for wave activities, like surfing, it is cloudy and useless for snorkeling.

I know that I could book boats to the reefs, but for his first snorkel I thought I'd try to find a walk-out beach with decent fish counts. Any recommendations? Or do we need to go out further?

Thanks
