Earliest you can board AOS?

Recommended Posts

If you get in line about 10:30am, you should be on the ship by noon.

In March 04 we arrived at the cruise port at 10:30 a.m. We were let inside the cruise terminal at 11:30 a.m. We checked in but then had to sit in those white plastic chairs until 1 p.m. before they would allow boarding....I was one of the first passengers to board. We were delayed in getting on the ship because passengers were still getting off of the ship from the previous week up until 12:30 pm I don't know why.

Just me again...since you are sailing the week of May 23rd, you should be able to board beginning immediately at 11:30 am or 12 noon because the ship is coming from dry dock and will not have passengers on board. The only thing happening on May 23rd is a lot of crew members will be returning to the ship from holiday, but that should not affect passenger boarding.

We've always been the first to board the ship. On the Voyager we were on the ship between 10-11, the 2nd people on. We were in the terminal for 5 min. and went right on. I couldnt imagine waiting on a line for an hour. Its also nice to have the whole ship to yourself for a few hours before everyone else comes on.

You were very lucky to board so quickly. What port did you sail out of on the Voyager? Surely it was not San Juan, as the original poster was asking about. It is quite normal to wait at least an hour for RCI to open the doors, when arriving at the Pan American Pier (San Juan). The line forms early - approx. 10:30 AM. They open the doors at approx. 11:30 AM. Then you proceed to sit in the infamous white chairs for another 30 - 45 minutes. Then to the registration desk. So, it does take awhile to finally get to your cabin on the Adventure of the Seas. I guess one could wait until the early crowd clears and walk right on at 1:00 PM or later. The ship sails out of San Juan, Puerto Rico at 10:00 PM - not the customary 5:00 PM.

Many savvy cruisers fly into San Juan a day or two early, so you have to check-out of your hotel by noon anyway. That is the main reason to arrive at the terminal early. You have some choices: You could have the hotel store your luggage while you do some touring and board as late as approx. 8:00 PM (muster drill is at 8:30 PM). Or, board early and then get off the ship for some local touring. Or, just stay on the ship and enjoy exploring it.
