sneaking liquor on board....

Just curious - any idea why they checked your bag? What port was it? Was it during spring break time?

I was very nervous my first few times, but now I don't give it a second thought. I'd hate to have to resort to "sneaking";)

It was out of San Diego in August. We packed a small carry on size with just beer like we have been the last 5 years or so...and another family member (same last name) packed a bottle of rum in his luggage with their clothes.......

The only difference this time was we packed the 16 oz aluminum bottles instead of 12 oz cans......

Now we didn't get the call.......the family member did on his cabin phone and was asked to come down.......sooo I followed. They had our beer and his rum:cool: So I am just assuming the odd shaped bottles threw them off:confused:

We did sail Carnival again out of San Diego this last Dec. and just brought a bottle of rum.....no problem......

So how many bags do you check onto the ship then...and does it matter if they weigh 100lb with all the booze? If we are flying in any suggestions???

Fly without, then buy before you get on the ship. No point in paying the extra weight fee on the plane.

packing my nice cold wine bottle in an in insulated kids lunch bag inside my carryon totebag,

now, wait for it....with two frozen rum runner "icepacks" down the sides to keep the wine cold...we shall see.....

good idea, huh? if i do say so myself

I just thunk it up, and put the icepacks in the freezer,

leaving tomorrow am.

Our last cruise (my first) I went on we met several people who had snuck liquor on board the ship. Is this something that happens a lot? I have thought about it for my upcoming trip but I drink mostly beer after my morning bloody mary. Just wanted to get everyone thoughts!!!

This another one of those subjects that needlesly gets beaten to death. If you want to carry some booze with you, just pack it well wrapped in your checked bags and enjoy once on board. If one feels that it is not the "correct" thing to do - don't do it.
