Peso Exchange

Recommended Posts

Hi, even though this thread is about Progreso, I thought someone on here might be able to help. Here goes.

We are going to Cancun for a land vacation for about a week next month and have a question.

To get the best value for our money should we:

1) Exchange U.S. dollars for pesos here at my bank? (my bank says they can do it if I place an order 2 weeks in advance)

2) Exchange for pesos once in Cancun? or

3) Just not bother and use U.S dollars while we're there?

Also, we're not really worried about having leftover pesos when we get back...my bank says they will exchange back into U.S.

Thanks in advance.

P.S.: I also posted this on Carnival thread and Cancun thread.

What I found interesting in Mexico last week was the exchange rate changed from vendor to vendor! We got anywhere from 10-14 to 1. I would just take your dollars down there and as you get change as we did you can typically get dollars or pesos from the vendors. I didn't have one not take dollars.
