kingfish78734 Posted April 10, 2009 #1 Share Posted April 10, 2009 Hi, even though this thread is about Progreso, I thought someone on here might be able to help. Here goes. We are going to Cancun for a land vacation for about a week next month and have a question. To get the best value for our money should we: 1) Exchange U.S. dollars for pesos here at my bank? (my bank says they can do it if I place an order 2 weeks in advance) 2) Exchange for pesos once in Cancun? or 3) Just not bother and use U.S dollars while we're there? Also, we're not really worried about having leftover pesos when we get back...my bank says they will exchange back into U.S. Thanks in advance. P.S.: I also posted this on Carnival thread and Cancun thread.
MrOCT31 Posted April 13, 2009 #2 Share Posted April 13, 2009 What I found interesting in Mexico last week was the exchange rate changed from vendor to vendor! We got anywhere from 10-14 to 1. I would just take your dollars down there and as you get change as we did you can typically get dollars or pesos from the vendors. I didn't have one not take dollars. hdawson Posted April 14, 2009 #4 Share Posted April 14, 2009 Banks and AAA are an expensive ways to exchange. It ain't cheap. If you're staying at an all-inclusive you really have no need for pesos.
