Hi folks. We are going on the Oceana on May 16th around W. Med. Has anyone visited Cartagena or La Spezia and what is there to see there? We dont want to book any excursions from these ports and want to do our own thing. Anyone out there with any advice please? Thanks.

Both ports are standard ports of call with not a great deal to see or do, although fairly pleasant to have a mooch around. Cartegena is easily walkable - not far from the ship. There are some pleasant shops & cafes and some Roman remains to see. La Spezia needs a short shuttle bus ride and again has some pleasant shops, cafes etc and also a big market. Not a great else to report. These two ports may merit excursions unless you just want a general stroll to do a little shopping.
