8E - Extended Balcony?

I booked the 8E on the Legend because the page of Carnival's site where you choose your section as well as many travel sites describe it as an extended balcony... Yet on the deck plan it doesn't list it as an extended balcony.

I paid extra for the extended balcony and now it looks like it might not actually be one... Does anyone know?

I booked 8E - Room 7220 on the Legend.

Anyone know of any issues with this room or whether or not it is extended? There were many cheaper private balcony rooms available. If it isn't an extended balcony is there a reason to pay more for 8E over the cheaper balcony rooms?

It is NOT extended. Extended balconies have 60 sq ft balcony and are located in the indented section or aft.

Cabin 7220 (8E OSTW) 185/40 sq ft

Beds: twin/king rab:0

View: window and standard balcony connecting balconies: yes

TV; telephone; 110 AC current; individual climate control; hair dryer; wall safe; minibar; 3-closets; shower; sofa and coffee table.

Now I am a little miffed.

This is what it says on the page where you choose your deck right on Carnival's site.

Includes stateroom categories: Standard Balcony 8A, 8B, 8D, 8F and 8H

Extended Balcony 8C, 8E, 8G and 8I.

Balcony Sateroom (obstructed view)* 7A

How can they say it is extended when it isn't?

Will they let me downgrade to a cheaper room considering the misinformation?

edit: I guess looking at it that it is the cheapest balcony room available that isn't obstructed... Still strange that they say it is extended when it isn't. Anyone know if the 8E rooms are nice... I am in 7220... Hope it is nice... Still sore that they are basically lying... Is there any difference besides location between the different rooms (8E, 8C, etc...)

We are staying on the Veranda deck... I chose it thinking that going one higher we would be under a public area and it would probably be noisy... On our deck we are below and above other staterooms.

Actually 7220 looks like it is in a good location-midship near elevators with cabins above and below you. The view from the extended balcony on the sides are obstructed when looking down but the cabin you have will not have any lifeboats near it so when you look down at the water, you will see water along the side of the ship. Looking down from the ext balcony you will see the top of a lifeboat and won't see the waterline. They aren't considered obstructed view cuz you can still see out when sitting at your balcony but some people enjoy looking down at the water when standing at the rail. It is a matter of choice.

Yea if I have a good room I wont be too fussy. After I booked it I was actually a little unsure that I wanted people to be able to look down and see me.

So if it is a good room I am happy.

It is my honeymoon and I think we can find some good use for the balcony... How private are they?

How strange... I don't see 8E's as extended balconies on the Carnival deck plans I looked at for the Legend. We booked two connecting 8E balcony cabins on the Legend and will be just a couple cabins down from you on our cruise in January. We didn't want the extendeds on that level. We were told that these particular 8E rooms on Verandah are fabulous. Enjoy!!!

Yea the deck plans don't say they are extended, but when you are at the page where you select you room and stuff it does say that 8E is extended... No matter, don't want the extended now.

Stay put - you will like it. The extra balcony space really doesn't do that much anyway. I had the 60sf balcony on the aft looking at the wake of the ship and enjoyed it but the railing at the back is slanted in so we didn't get any use of the extra 2 ft depth. The extended balconies are less private. You will have more privacy on your balcony although none of them are totally private. Neighbors looking around or I also hear reflections off the windows somehow make people see stuff you may not want them seeing. Having cabins above & below you is a big plus and you are straight up the stairs 2 decks to lido or down the elevator to deck 2 for dining room, casino etc all right there. I love the Spirit class ships. Enjoy!
