transfers london airport to southampton

I don't know how accurate this is, but the taxi driver from the ship to Southampton Central said that for 4 people, he could compete with the train on price to London. It's something to consider.

If you could beat the taxi down to 150 GBP you could make an argument that if you bought the most expensive fare possible and factored in taxi costs from the cruise ship to the station and station to your hotel you'd have a comparable cost.

However most people travel off peak for cruises with off peak fares and/or can make use of promotional fares like groupsave (4 travel for price of 2) or Megatrain, perhaps around 25 GBP for 4 people.

Even so, the train is faster and a much more civilsed way to travel than a car, especially with 4 passengers.
