MRIGAL Posted November 22, 2009 #107 Share Posted November 22, 2009 Great pics! I've been dying to see pics of our suite #1720 ( 1/9/2010). I'm a little worried because there are 4 of us. Sleeping 2 on the sofa downstairs looks tight. The chaise on the end is separate. We'll see. The stateroom itself and balcony look exceptional. I can't wait/ so excited!!!!!!!!!! MRIGAL Posted November 22, 2009 #108 Share Posted November 22, 2009 I think we have an extra door off the balcony or is it just a fixed panel -- I think it's a door. 1718 doesn't have this. Does anyone know where it leads? Maybe the downstairs bathroom is thru that door. I think the window above it is the window I see upstairs in the master bedroom. Any thoughts or comments? ahornb Posted November 30, 2009 #112 Share Posted November 30, 2009 OMG!! THANKS TCROWE!!:cool::D So what do you think? I think I could suffer through living in that stateroom for a week.;) Any negatives that people point out after seeing these photos (and people always have negative thing to say) won't be enough to dampen my spirit. No matter what I will be on VACATION. :) I was just looking through this thread. It's fun to look back on all the photos and read our old comments and speculation. Take good care of #1720 for me Tcrowe. :)

zevrosenthal Posted December 2, 2009 #116 Share Posted December 2, 2009 making this post live from 1720. No photos can adequately describe how wonderful it actually is! You will be amazed; the room and deck are both wonderful. The only criticism I'd have is with the bathroom(s). Both small (only 1 sink) and no tub :( and not much for storage though the lack of the tub is made up mostly by the wonderful rainshower (in addition to 2 showerheads in each shower as well). The attendant is great and all the finishes are wonderful.

But I think everything else about the suite will make up for it. Looking forward to hearing more about your days and the "suite life" afforded in 1720. More details on Loft Lounge and other services provided by attendants and concierge will be appreciated!

If you are at all able and willing to answer, I have a couple of questions; -Like Tcrowe, I would also like to hear about the Loft Lounge. -How is the noise level from the sports deck? -Can you ask the concierge to secure WowPhones in advance? Any info or observations you're willing to post would be greatly appreciated. Thanks again. HAPPY CRUISING!:)
ubiquitous Posted December 2, 2009 #119 Share Posted December 2, 2009 Could you post something about the boarding experience? Suite guests are supposed to get "enhanced" boarding. How did that work? How was the concierge experience? We are dying to know. :)
zevrosenthal Posted December 3, 2009 #120 Share Posted December 3, 2009 Internet has been down most of the day so this is my first chance to post (and BTW, at prices between 35 & 55 cents per minute depending on bulk purchasing very, very expensive). This is one area that needs more troubleshooting; not much info on when connection is down and when it's up. As to other questions: 1. Boarding was very easy. Dedicated doorway for Suites and, after they checked our setsail pass we were personally escorted to the suites check-in line (no-waiting) and a quick check of docs and photo and up to boarding. They start suite boarding at 11:30am and, as we arrived at the terminal just after 11:30, we weren't in the terminal more than 10 minutes so I didn't see much of it. Very easy process and you felt special with the personal treatment. Once you get into the Royal Promenade from the gangway, nowever, it was "every person for his/herself" and quite a bit of confusion with people trying to find elevators, etc. Not a bad idea to know which direction you need to go (forward/aft) when you board then you can just turn and head toward the elevators. Loft Lounge (at least for this cruise) is virtually non-existent. there is a lounge but it's either empty (except for chairs) during the day or in use for private functions at night. Pretty area but no real value. We were directed to use the regular suite concierge lounge on deck 11. beautiful space but always quite crowded with people. Given the number of people, concierges (2) did a really great job trying to help everybody. No noise at all within the cabins; windows are very soundproof and even on the balcony, there isn't really any noise problem with the sports deck.1720 overlooks the mini-golf which hasn't been busy or noisy and flowriders are really quite a ways away and you can't hear them at all. It seems (I could never get a clear answer) that all suite people are just automatically reserved for all the show times as we could always get in and, when i tried to reserve some times on the TV, it just told me I was booked even though I hadn't booked. This is a nice perk - really no worries at all about any shows; just show up at least 10 minutes beforehand and show your gold seapass and walk in! That saved a lot of stress! during breakfast/lunch, Asian restaurant (right off Windjammer) serves are private seating for suite quests. Wow phones were not yet available. They were still fixing software, etc. I took an early tour by an RCCL salesrep and we had a chance to talk to the WOW phone people and see a demo phone in action Not that big a deal. You can call room to room or phone to phone, see restaurant waiting times on the phone (though you can do same at monitors everywhere around the ship) and find your kids on a built-in map (though only when they are wearing a little gps unit on their wrist that they only get to wear while they are actually in the kids club form where they are always under superivsion anyway so all your really get is a cool little map that tells you where you know your kids already are! Even if they were available, we decided we would have skipped the $35 fee to rent a pair of WOW phones and instead are just SMSing each other when needed (on AT&T 50 cents per outgoing and 10 cents per incoming); we're not likely to even spend $35 and we can easily stay in contact Attendants have been very nice; as you'd expect on a cruise. Nothing overly special but that's actually a compliment as, so far, they've kept the room clean, answered any questions I've had and done a great job. Toiletries are typical small hotel bottles of Glichrist & Soames - what you'd find in a nice Hyatt, etc. Nothing super special but certainly nice. Beds are very comfy with new crisp white sheets and white down duvets and the AC works really well! (we like to be cool when we sleep). That's it for now. ahornb Posted December 3, 2009 #121 Share Posted December 3, 2009 Wow! Thank you zevrosenthal!! That was a great report. I really appreciated you taking time (and internet costs) out of your vacation to give us the scoop. Very interesting to hear about the Kid GPS. Not much use if they only wear it in the kids club. I have AT&T also and would love to just txt, but I thought that I would pay astronomical roaming charges if I turned my phone on at all once I left Fort Lauderdale. We have unlimited txt. Are the fees you quoted roaming txt fees? Btw, if you get the chance, can you ask about the best way to score a seat at the "Chef's Table" specialty dining experience? Once again, THANK YOU SO MUCH! :)
ubiquitous Posted December 3, 2009 #122 Share Posted December 3, 2009 Thanks zevrosenthal for the response we all appreciate the information. BTW is there a tv in the loft? Enjoy your vacation and good old SkyLoft 1720 and thanks again for giving us a glimpse of what we are only able to anticipate. :)
zevrosenthal Posted December 3, 2009 #123 Share Posted December 3, 2009 It's not clear the exact pricing for international text messages. I saw this page on the AT&T website (below) and read somewhere on these boards in a thread that it was 10cents per SMS to receive. Looks like you pay for outgoing international but incoming is included in your bucket if you're on an SMS plan. SMS is different from data. no wireless data available at sea anyway (the cellphone service on the ship doesn't support GSM data) but you can get data in most international countries on a roaming plan. That's very expensive! I shut off my data on my iphone (manual sync only) though that doesn't affect SMS send/receive. If your phone rings and you don't want to pay the ~$2.49per minute to talk, just don't answer it to avoid a charge. We aren't eating Chef's table though concierge note in the suite just says to call/ask for a reservation. Loft has a flatscreen as well as the lower level (bigger one with surround sound). Happy to answer. Seems like interet working much better today! http://www.wireless.att.com/learn/messaging-internet/messaging/faq.jsp#pricing-text Q. What is the pricing for international text messaging? A. It's just $0.25 to send an international message. Sent messages are not pulled from your bucket of messages. International text messages received will either pull from your message bucket or be charged a normal per-message charge. Q. What is the pricing for using text messaging while roaming? A. There are no additional charges for sending and receiving text messaging while roaming in the United States. If roaming internationally (where available), text messages sent are $0.50 each and do not pull from message buckets. Text messages received while roaming internationally are billed at normal rate. kaibutzi Posted December 3, 2009 #125 Share Posted December 3, 2009 Hi I need you help! We are booked in 1720 for May 22nd and as we saw the first pictures we thought we might change into a smaller loft suite because of the balcony overlooking the mini golf course - so that everybody there can see you sitting on the balcony and you have no privacy at all. But now we see that there is the balcony around the corner with a separate door. Is that true? Can you come to the side balcony from inside the cabin? Please help me decide! Thanks and have all the fun you can have! Regards from Munich Germany And more
