TRC Posted December 7, 2004 #1 Share Posted December 7, 2004 We are booked on the Panama Canal crossing in Oct of 05. We arrive in San Juan On Saturday October 29 early. We are wondering if we can make a 12:00 pm flight to come back to California? Does this give us enough time for customs, the taxi ride to the airport and check-in at the airport. Thanks for any help. springtxbill Posted December 7, 2004 #2 Share Posted December 7, 2004 Check what other ships will be in port that day and whether they are just stopping or are reloading. Our cruise on the Empress in a couple of weeks comes back in on a day with only 3 ships in San Juan and the other 2 are just visiting. We will have no problem with a noon flight. Croozin Soozin Posted December 7, 2004 #3 Share Posted December 7, 2004 Terry and Gail - I would check with your TA and see what she recommends and then follow her recommendations. While it might be possible to make that earlier flight, there are so many unknowns at the end of a cruise. There's no way of knowing how long it will take customs to clear the ship, or how many other people are going to be trying to depart early. Early departure from the ship means you have to find your luggage among all the other luggage from the sailing. Ask yourself if you're prepared to deal with that much stress at the end of a wonderful, relaxing vacation. Besides, I think your TA knows what she's talking about based on her own experience. Trust her!!!! Soozin
brian5 Posted December 9, 2004 #4 Share Posted December 9, 2004 Early debarkation is available with proof of flight. We 'bought' our way off early last week in PR by signing up for the walking tour of Old San Juan. Off the ship at 8:30, loading the van less than an hour later. Todd320 Posted December 9, 2004 #5 Share Posted December 9, 2004 Normally 12:00 will be no problem unless the unexpected happens and Customs and Immigration delays the start of de-embarkation. Last April during the busiest week of spring break with 5 ships in port we easily made a 9:00 AM flight.
