We will be leaving on Island Princess June 22 from Vancover and we have our trip planned except for Vancover and Ketchikan. What is there that would be fun to do. Here is the rest of our trip so we don't get double suggestions.

Vancover ???

Ketchikan, Alaska???

Juneau, Alaska- we have been before and done the whales so this time were doing the helicopter thing were we fly over then hike around on the glaicer.

Skagway, Alaska- going to rent a car and drive the same places that the train goes.

Glacier Bay National Park, Alaska (Scenic Cruising)

College Fjord, Alaska (Scenic Cruising)

Anchorage (Whittier), Alaska- renting a car and heading up to Denali and there we are staying at a bed and breakfast for 2 days and then going into the park on the state busses and touring the park. Then flying home out of Anchorage.

Ok our problem is what to do in Vancover and Ketchikan, Alaska. Any suggestions would be appriciated.

Ketchican gets lots of drizzle/rain so plan accordingly. When we went we caught a bus tour we arranged dock-side that took us around the area. We saw the salmon spawning (zillions of them) and jumping ladders and chutes to fight their way upstream. It was the most amazing thing.

If a bear chases you they won't let you back on the bus cause' they don't allow people on the bus with a bear behind ! :)

I did Ketchikan previously on foot and it was wet and other than Creek Street not too exciting. This year I am going to try Ketchikan Taxi Cab Tours to see some of the wilderness.

Good luck with your planning.

You don't tell us how long you are in Vancouver as there is a ton of things to do and you could probably keep busy for more than a week. Bust assuming you are only here for a day I would suggest a trip in to our 1000 acre Stanely Park, a trip to the festival market of Granville Island, a walk into Gastown, for the more adventurous a trip to Grouse Mountain c/w zip lining or if you want to see a lot of the city's sights in a hurry then one of the HOHO bus excursions. I am sure that you will enjoy our city.

In Vancouver we are going to rent bicycles and ride around the seawall at Stanley Park. In Ketchikan we are taking a floatplane trip into Misty Fjords, visit Totem Bight State Park, and walk around the city. :)
