OOM Posted May 4, 2004 #1 Share Posted May 4, 2004 Is the RCCL Belize Barier Reef Snorkel & Beach at Rendezous Caye Excursion any good? I like the fact it is only 3 1/2 hours as we have a 8 year old and 9 month old baby.
flamingosun Posted May 7, 2004 #2 Share Posted May 7, 2004 It is lovely. Just did it last month. OOM Posted May 8, 2004 Author #3 Share Posted May 8, 2004 Thanks for the reply. I read another poster say under the ports of call, that you have to swim to shore to get to the beach area and with a baby that could be difficult. Is this true? flamingosun Posted May 8, 2004 #4 Share Posted May 8, 2004 The beach area is a tiny island in the middle of the sea. (Tiny= maybe 20' x 100') For the most part, yes, you must swim to the little Cay. However, they did have one small skiff, which they offered to use to take my DH ashore in. (Incredibly, he's a non-swimmer) He opted to stay on the boat. I think I did see one or two others in the skiff at one point. snow Posted May 8, 2004 #5 Share Posted May 8, 2004 We did the trip in March. The seas were a bit rough so out of the 250 people that signed up to go only about 20 went.We still had a great time with the whole boat to ourselves and enough rum punch for 125 people !!! The crew was great telling us all about the reefs & islands, it was almost like a day off for them so they were swimming & diving off the boat.I think they have kayaks on the island that you could get & bring your child on the beach. Another plus for this trip is they pick you up right from the ship.
OOM Posted May 8, 2004 Author #6 Share Posted May 8, 2004 Thanks for the replies. How long is the catamaran ride to this Caye (i.e. 30 minutes, hour, etc.)?
flamingosun Posted May 9, 2004 #7 Share Posted May 9, 2004 The ride to the cay was (I think) around 30-40 minutes.
