grandbanksguy Posted May 22, 2009 #1 Share Posted May 22, 2009 On our previous travels in Italy we determind Gelateria Vivoli in Florence to be numero uno. They were expensive, with small portions and no cones, only cups. But oh soooo good. We're on the Ruby sailing 9/1/09 and will visit Florence, Rome, Naples and Venice along the way looking for our daily gelato fix. Any suggestiins from all you foodies out there? Talk to you later. Going to the fridge.:)

Going to the fridge.:) Gelati? YUM. We have photos of us eating gelati in every place we visited in Italy. But...cones? Not the way they tend to be eaten and enjoyed in Italy as you probably saw for yourself. Vivoli is fantastic, probably one of the best but be prepared, gelati is expensive throughout Italy. Do I have names to share? Wish I did since some have pretty mediocre offerings while some small gems are fantastic. Look for gelaterias that serve gelati in metal containers not white plastic. And dont forget to try pizza everywhere. Each city tends to have their own distinct way of preparing it. Italy is a country for true foodies.
