Az's Cruising Nana Posted May 24, 2009 #1 Share Posted May 24, 2009 We are still looking at hotels for our Sept. Radiance. Has anyone stayed there??? Also we are going to be there for 2 days and try to do some sightseeing. Is the zoo a daylong experiance??? Is it doable in a half day??? (we are an adults only group so chldren won't be holding us up). What else would you suggest??? The Midway is also on our list. Thanks, Sue

Thanks, Sue The Midway is a five minute walk from the cruise ship terminal. You can try the zoo in half a day but won't see every thing. You could do Sea World in half a day. For the hotel I have no comment, have not stayed there. Have Fun
TCF Posted May 25, 2009 #3 Share Posted May 25, 2009 On our first stop at San Diego last fall we tried to do the Zoo in 1/2 a day....forget it!! It is a terrific Zoo but we didn't have time to see much more than the elephants and giraffes. We did take the shuttle bus around part of the Zoo and whuile it was interesting we didn't get to see very many of the animals long enough to get pictures. On our stop in Dan Diego last month we saw the USS Midway Museum. It is also a tremendous museum that is more than worth the 3-4 hours it takes to really see all they have on display. For our money a definite..."Not to be missed"!! We stayed at the Sheraton Marina...great price....great service. Ask for a room on the ship canal side of the hotel facing the Naval Station. Have a great time.
mjesf Posted May 26, 2009 #4 Share Posted May 26, 2009 The zoo is an all day thing - even without kids. The Midway tour was interesting, and is doable in 1/2 day.
travelcoupletoo Posted May 29, 2009 #5 Share Posted May 29, 2009 The Sheraton and Hyatt at the marina are very nice and close to Seaport village, along with the Sofia that is a small hotel in the Gaslamp section of downtown San Diego. The zoo is an all day event. Seaport village and the gaslamp area have shopping, eateries and entertainment. You can take the ferry over to coronado island and enjoy shopping and eateries. The midway is a great thing to do. You can also catch a variety of city tours by walking to Horton plaza (downtown). All of these things are in the same area and within walking distance of each other. Here is a website that might help you too. http://reservations.sandiegohotels.com/678_hotel-list_m10.html?__utma=110320391.1247808507099335200.1243554751.1243554751.1243554751.1&__utmb=110320391.1.10.1243554751&__utmc=110320391&__utmx=-&__utmz=110320391.1243554751.1.1.utmcsr=search.rr.com|utmccn=(referral)|utmcmd=referral|utmcct=/search&__utmv=-&__utmk=155814523 Enjoy, September will be warm....
