White Pass Summit Scenic Railway

Hi:),

We are scheduled to be in Haines with our HAL ship on June 17. I have booked the White Pass Scenic Railway that takes us to Skagway. We then have time to shop in Skagway before returning to Haines on the train. Has anyone done this or have any thoughts about this excursion?

I could be wrong, but I don't think that there is a train that goes from Haines to Skagway. The White Pass Railroad runs from Skagway to Fraser (and sometimes Lake Bennet) and then back down to Skagway. I think the only way to get to Skagway from Haines is a ferry.

ginjer is right - you go to Skagway by ferry and the up the the White Pass Summit and back on the train. It's rated one of the top train trips in the world - I've been on it many times.
