Sandraeml Posted June 10, 2009 #1 Share Posted June 10, 2009 We need to rent a car to drive to Port Canaveral the night before our cruise in July. Is it necessary to book a car in advance at the Orlando airport? Any recommendations on which agency we should use?
nursekerri Posted June 22, 2009 #2 Share Posted June 22, 2009 I just rented a car with Budget.com for a September cruise. Pick up at Orlando airport, drop off the next day in Cape Canaveral. For one day plus 2 hours, the total price is USD$68.86. And they do have shuttle service.
nursekerri Posted June 22, 2009 #3 Share Posted June 22, 2009 Also, I forgot to mention, you don't have to pay a deposit, so there's really no reason to wait until later to reserve it.
afcj1 Posted June 22, 2009 #4 Share Posted June 22, 2009 I'd definitely reserve in advance, so you get a car! There are different discount codes that you can use, the best that I'ce found for Budget is: S232000 for Discover Card and OOAG for Dollar/Thrifty. Here's a website for more lots of discount codes: http://www.mousesavers.com/rentalcar.html
mnsawyer Posted June 22, 2009 #5 Share Posted June 22, 2009 Orlando is one of the largest car rental cities, so be sure you have made reservations. If you go with Budget, sign up for the Fast Break (it's free) and you don't have to wait in line for your car at the terminal. You can just go to the kiosk across the street from the baggage area and pick up your car. There is a drop-off location on Cocoa Beach and they will shuttle you to the pier. moviejunki Posted June 23, 2009 #6 Share Posted June 23, 2009 My hubby and I reserved a convertible for July 11 pick up in Orlando and July 12 drop off in Miami for about $80 through Budget. Some companies do have a 1 way fee, I don't remember which ones though. Here is the Orlando airport direct link for rental cars: http://www.orlandoairports.net/ops/rac.htm Budget may have not been the cheapest, but they were locoated in the Orlando airport (no shuttle is a plus for me)and had Mustang convertibles while most other companies had Sebrings.. psblin99 Posted June 23, 2009 #7 Share Posted June 23, 2009 Make sure you use Avis, Budget, Hertz, Enterprise or Dollar/Thrifty as they are the only ones here. They will all shuttle you to/from the ship.
