We were there a few days ago with a 2 year 2 month old boy. He very much enjoyed the Bermuda Aquarium and Zoo (they even have a little playground for the little ones). Getting there involves a bus and a transfer, or a ferry and a bus, or an expensive cab. We took the ferry from Dockyard to Hamilton and then a bus to the aquarium. Really not much trouble.

There is a nice playground/splash pool/sand lot at Dockyard (just to the left of the entrance to the maritime museum) that was good for an hour's entertainment.

Would highly recommend Horseshoe Bay. Instead of going to crescent of open sand in the middle, try one of the edges where the rocky headlands are. We spent several hours on the east side of the beach (between Horseshoe and Chaplin Bays) where there was plenty of shade all day (important for a toddler) and a variety of little caves and narrow paths through the rocks that he loved to play in. I believe there is an area on the west side that they call "Baby Horseshoe Bay" where the water is quite calm and good for "little swimmers".

As to the weather, expect hot, humid and the chance of showers or storms each day. Pretty much what you would expect along the U.S. east coast in the summer.

Enjoy!

I believe the SnorkelPark beach reopened at the Dockyard a few years ago. The water is calm & good for smaller children. You can also rent snorkel gear, kayaks, etc. and they have a snack bar & restrooms. There are also shoppes & restaurants at the Dockyard that you can check out along with the glass blowing factory & Bermuda rum cake factory. Also there is a crafters mall featuring local items & artisans. Down towards the entrance to the Dockyard there is a good seafood restaurant & a bakery.

The water at Southshore beaches can be rough for young children so when you go to Horseshoe Bay, hang a quick right after you enter (just past the snackbar) and you will find a little "cove" where the water is shallower & not rough. This is where families with younger children enjoy the beach/water at Horseshoe & there is some shade in the afternoons as well.

We've been to Bermuda many times & are heading there to holiday this Friday! Although our son was older (10) when we started taking him, we used the bus & it has always been very convenient, taking you wherever you need/want to go. Get a transportation pass which is most economical and also includes the ferries (which are a great way to enjoy the beauty of the island from the water and would be best for parents with children to get to St. George without the long, more restraining bus ride). Bermudians are very friendly & helpful (especially if you seem to be lost) but think it inpolite if you don't greet them with "Good Morning/Afternoon/Evening" especially before beginning a conversation or asking a question.

Enjoy Bermuda!
