Earliest Mendenhall Glacier Shuttle Buses

Our ship is arriving at 6:30 a.m. We are going on a whale watch excursion. They will pick us up at Mendenhall at 11:15 a.m.

 

I was hoping to catch a shuttle at about 7:30 or 8:00 a.m. to have enough time to hike and not have to rush back. Do you know if any of the companies leave that early or is 9:00 a.m. the earliest?

 

If the shuttle is not possible that early perhaps we can take a taxi. Does anyone know approx. taxi fare? Maybe we would get lucky and catch another couple to share.

 

I'd like to hike (view) the area where the salmon run and who knows maybe get lucky and see a bear. Where would be the best spot?

 

Hubby and I are pretty good walkers. How much time do you think we need to allocate for a moderate hike that would allow us to meet up with our whale tour at 11:15 a.m.?
