Snorkeling in CocoCay

Recommended Posts

I think that depends on what you have to compare it to. We were there last week. We
were disappointed. The water was so shallow at times and there were so many rocks on the bottom that it was hard not to scrape my knees until we got way out. I tryed to walk out but again the rocks were nasty. The staff were towing out divers and that really make the visability poor. We saw a few fish but not many.

If you've never snorkeled its probably going to be a decent experience. For anyone who has snorkeled in St. Thomas off Buck Island or Aruba
you'll be probably disappointed.

I've had both decent and so-so snorkeling experiences in CocoCay. it isn't Belize or Cozumel... but you CAN enjoy it all the same, I do.

Good: swam out to the 'deep water' area and saw tons of fish, lots of interesting coral, and a wonderful eagle ray. one other time nearly comprable to that... no eagle rays, a couple of sting rays, though.

Not-so-good: Once, there were more jelly fish than anything else. On another occasion, inclement weather made snorkeling not so inviting.

BTW I am pretty much one of those people who has to get IN water if it happens to fall within my field of vision... but CocoCay is enjoyable even on days when the snorkeling falls into the 'not good' category. It's just a delightful place.
