cell phones

Recommended Posts

Check the rangeroamer.com site. We rented a phone from them for 10 days in Ireland 2 years ago. Very good service and a reasonable price. Easy to get and return the phone while you are in the US.

However, you might want to just buy a cheap pay as you go phone over there for use there.

Any suggestions on who I can rent a cell phone from while I'm in British Isles? Must in touch with my office in the States! I'll be away three weeks!

just a minor detail ,they are usually refered to as mobile phones over here, just incase you are not understood ;)

Just a suggestion: You may want to look into the possibility of buying a prepaid phone instead.

You can get an phone for as little as GBP35, which includes a SIM card and airtime credit. I bought one last November for GBP60 including SIM and GBP10 airtime credit (vodafone). Since I was lucky enough to get an unlocked phone, I have since switched providers in Canada and been using it with my own local provider. I also used it a few weeks ago in the UK, Scandinavia, and Portugal. Well worth it, if you ask me.

Alternatively, before buying a prepaid phone, you may first check if you have a GSM quad band phone. If you do have one, you may take it with you and just buy a SIM card when you get to the UK. Just check if your phone is locked to your provider. If it isn't, buy an unlock code from ebay so that you can unlock it and use it with any provider.
