panzerman Posted June 27, 2009 #1 Share Posted June 27, 2009 All, On the Uniworld Danube Discovery cruise are the optional excursions ashore expensive? Are they reasonably priced and are they worth the money? What are the typical costs for these excursions? Panzerman :)
pjtraveler Posted June 27, 2009 #2 Share Posted June 27, 2009 We did only two optionals on our cruise on the Danube: the Thurn and Taxis Palace and the Bavarian Heritage Museum. The first one was 72 euros for two people; the second, 78 euros. We enjoyed both of them a great deal. The Thurn and Taxis Castle is magnificent and still being lived in today. We also had drinks at their brewery (beer and non-alcoholic drinks are available). That was a tour offered in Regensburg. From Passau we visited the Bavarian Heritage Village Museum. It's a collection of various Bavarian small-town and farm structures that have been moved from all over that area. It was a wonderful afternoon with a very pleasant drive there and back. Once again, Bavairan snacks in the restaurant there were part of the package. We did not do the Vienna optional excursions because we had a very early flight home the next morning. Other people did the concert and enjoyed it a lot. The visit to Schonbrunn Palace didn't make--not enough interest. But a some people went there on their own, using the metro and really had a great time. Have a great time!:)
