Urgent help re Cologne to Dusseldorf airport train please?

Help!

 

My parents river cruise has been cut short due to heavy rain in Europe.

I need the details of the trains from Cologne to Dusseldorf airport. I've had a look at the German rail website, but it's a bit confusing. I'm not sure if the trip involves a change of train or not.

When do your parents need to travel?

There a connections with and without train changes.

 

E.g. tomorrow

9:05 IC 2157 direct Cologne Mainstation to Düsseldorf Airport

9:11 IC 2310 change at Düsseldorf main station to regional train

9:31 direct regional train

Its Saturday morning, 04jul. Also would anyone know the approx cost of a taxi please, from Cologne to Dusseldof airport

The same trains run on Saturdays, only the first IC has a different number, 2257.

The IC costs € 13 per person.

 

I estimate a taxi to be more than € 100. A quick check of googled transfer companies leads to prices from € 85 up.

Origin is 50667 Köln, Frankenwerft (most river cruise ships berthes here).

If your parents

 

do not transfer at Düsseldorf Hbf (= Hauptbahnhof = Central Station)

 

they arrive in Düsseldorf Flughafen Station

which means they need to transfer there by a kind of ropecar (H-Bahn) shuttle to the terminal

 

 

If your parents

 

transfer at Düsseldorf Hbf

to the S7 Commuter Trains

 

they arrive in Düsseldorf Flughafen Terminal Station

which is in the lower level of the terminal building
