Internet cost

Recommended Posts

If you use the kiosk PCs, you swipe your card on the reader and they bill you $0.50 per minute. If you set up your User ID when you board at a kiosk PC and then connect using your own PC's wi-fi, it asks you what plan you want with cheaper rates the more pre-paid minutes you buy but even the lowest rate is $0.35 per minute. No bargains to be had at sea...

The standard minute rate is now 55 cents. There are package deals for $50.00, not sure how many minutes you get for the cost! It is a cheaper minute rate when you purchase a package!

The best time to go online is after midnite. It isn't as slowwwwwwwwww!

Price is the same whether using the ship's internet cafe computers or your own laptop.

From the RCCL website: Customer Support > Frequently Asked Questions > Life Onboard > Is internet access available from the ship?

Yes, depending on the ship there are two options for staying connected while onboard.

There will be six designated *"Hot Spots" which vary from ship to ship.

To use our WI-FI access, you'll need:

The cost for Wi-Fi access through your own laptop is:

Base rate is $.55 per minute or choose from one of our prepaid packages:

$28.00 for 60 minutes

$38.00 for 90 minutes

$55.00 for 150 minutes

All prices are subject to change without notice.

The Internet Cafe/Workstation

These stations provide access to e-mail and the Internet, plus direct connections to favorite websites for stock, sports and entertainment updates. You can also send virtual postcards while at sea, and in ports-of-call worldwide. If you don't have an e-mail account, you can also establish one onboard.

The cost is $.55 per minute or you can choose a prepaid package:

$28.00 for 60 minutes

$38.00 for 90 minutes

$55.00 for 150 minutes

Available onboard all ships.

For those who have Blackberries or IPhones, that's also an option. It's free (in terms of the ship, of course -- you do have your service provider fees). And, I found that I had Blackberry access most of the time at sea (Italy/Croatia itinerary) as we weren't too far off the coast.

I agree that the Internet was slow; it seemed to depend more on where we were than the number of users.
