Post cruise Oahu North Shore tour Q

1) The blurb does not mention food. Do they make bathroom stops that are long enough to purchase food, and if so, where?

2) Says it is a 5 hour tour. Get off the ship at 8:30, but is only for people with flights after 5:30. Do the math. There's lots of extra time. Is this spent in waiting for luggage to be loaded on the bus, or what? Or are they allowing for roads being blocked due to accidents, heavy traffic etc?

3) How early does one have to check in before a flight? (the tour takes you to the airport). Our flight home is 5:15 and I am thinking there'll be plenty of time. But please correct me if I'm wrong! Thanks

All those questions lead to the reason why we just rented a car. It was cheaper, we did things at our own pace, and we got to the airport about 8:30pm for an 11:00pm flight home. We had about an hour to and hour and fifteen minutes to kill after checking in and getting through security.

Thanks for the response. We do not want to rent a car on Oahu. We will have done that in Maui and Hilo, though. We also want two easy days of helicopter flights which we can't do from a car rental lol so that we can enjoy the ship and relax.

Does anyone have any experience with the North Shore tour that drops you at the airport? Thanks

Yes there are plenty of opportunities to use the rest room.

The blurb about the tour does not do it justice. We basically got escorted with our bags onto the big tour bus (very nice) they put your luggage underneath according to airline so when you get dropped off at the airport curbside everyones luggage is together for each airline.

You stop at the Moa Macadamia Nut plant and you sample nuts and coffee there- restrooms available

The temple has restrooms as well (very clean) I used them here.

Then you eat lunch at the Live Shrimp Farm - they have burgers and chicken as well - luch was delicious it was $12 per person for our coconut shrimp, sticky rice, salad and fruit - drinks are seperate. Bathrooms here as well.

Stops at Sunset Beach - no facilities where we stopped.

Dole Plantation - food , we all had Pineapple ice cream for dessert Yummy! they have other things to eat for purchase and shopping here and more restrooms. We had plenty of time to get to the airport I think we got there around 2:30pm, our flight was the exact same time as yours and we had plenty of time. It was before the crowd of other ppl came - the airport is small and gets crowded for the flights back home. I hope this helps.

Our tour guide was awesome his name was Keao Low and I cant say enough great things about him. He was entertaining from the second we stepped on the bus. He has lots of great jokes about Hawaii and he also sings! I was skeptical about paying the price for this post cruise tour but I will say that it was a great end to our cruise and worth the price. I will add that our tour guide made a load of difference in this opinion.

Thanks Sandyjabs,

That was exactly what I wanted to know.

Why don't you go to the NCL website and include on their passenger review section for excursions exactly what you told me! It might help someone else who was straddling the line about booking the tour! (or encourage NCL to re-write its blurb about the tour).
