Voyager Christmas Sailing - Kid Explosion?

Recommended Posts

We're thinking of booking the December 24th sailing, and have a 14 year old daughter - but wonder if the ship is going to be absolutely overrun with kids. A google search reveals 900 in 2000, and 1200 in 2002...this is on a ship that hlds 3400. Since we'll be bringing two grandmas with us too, I wonder if RCCL limits the # of kids or does a fairly good job keeping them in line? Any past experiences or thoughts would be appreciated!

Haven't done this itinerary on RCCL, but we did do a 12/24-31 cruise on Princess a few years back (with my 80+ year old grandmother). We found the kid-situation pretty much the same as any other time--that is to say: No problems. I would say go for it (although the prices that week are really high)!!!!!!

Expect a minimum of 1000 kids. We did the Navigator and we had about that amount. That said we also had about 700 on the Radiance this past Christmas. It's pot luck with the behavior of kids. Actually it's the parents that make all the difference.

The parents on the Navigator seemed to care very little about what their kids were doing and it showed. Not a problem at all with the kids on the Radiance.

BTW I have kids!

We were on Explorer Easter week this year with 1200 kids. No problems at all! Didn't really feel any different than sailing with less kids. Pools were a little more crowded, but not a problem. It was great! Should be fun at Christmastime! Enjoy!

It's almost guaranteed that the ship will be full of kids. How they behave will depend on their parents. If you have anyone in your group that does not want to be around children it would not be the right week to take a cruise.
