Walkie Talkies?

We always carry our walkie talkies on cruises. They worked better for us on the Star than the Pearl, but on the Pearl trip we also convoyed down from Orlando with two vehicles, and they made communication really easy for us. I think much depends on how much metal is between you when you're trying to use them.

The main reason we carry them with us is so that our daughter can have some freedom when she's at the Kid's Crew. We're not comfortable giving her sign out priviledges, but we also want her to be able to leave if she wants, so contacting us to come and get her is important. It's actually quite rare that it's an issue since she loves the Kid's Crew so much, but on the Pearl she had just had just finished a six week therapy on her knee and so we were especially concerned. Since there weren't many toddlers on board, we were able to use one of the Kid's Crew's 'diaper phones' - the ones they hand out to parents in case their kids need changing. It worked very well, so if this is one reason you're asking, you can inquire as to whether they have a spare one to carry while your child(ren) is in the program. :)
