simon9914 Posted July 19, 2009 #1 Share Posted July 19, 2009 Any advice on Catholic mass? We are docked for one day, and there is a mass at 4 but we worry about finding a cab back to the boat. I have asked Carnival if a Catholic priest is on board, and unfortunately, there is not. (If there is they will accommodate on the boat) I have a group of 12 and it is important that we attend mass. Please advise.
PennyAgain Posted July 20, 2009 #2 Share Posted July 20, 2009 You can book taxis/van/mini bus to take you to and from the church. With that many people, it should be easy to set that up. The town is not that big. Shouldn't take long. Have you GOOGLed to see how far away the church is? Just put the name of the town in quote marks in the GOOGLE box and also "Catholic church". Here's a list with links to maps and telephone numbers. http://www.google.com/search?sourceid=navclient&ie=UTF-8&rlz=1T4FUJL_enUS289US290&q=%22St+John+NB%22+%22Catholic+church%

Please advise. The closest would be the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception at 91 Waterloo Street 506-653-6820. If they cannot accommodate you they could perhaps give you the name of one of the others which could. Saint John calls itself the most Irish city in Canada so there is no shortage of RC churches here.
Acey Posted July 20, 2009 #4 Share Posted July 20, 2009 The Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception has Sunday masses (according to their website) at 10:00 and 11:45. It`s an easy stroll from the ship. To get there- walk up King Street to the top. Turn left (by the Bargain Shop) and go one short block until you are in front of the Old Saint John City Market. Cross the street (Charlotte Street) and walk one block. Turn left and walk one block until you hit a set of lights. Cross the street - there is a street that goes on an angle (this is Waterloo Street) - walk a few blocks - you`ll see the church spire. http://new-brunswick.net/Saint_John/irish/pics/cathedral.jpg http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3415/3666399014_10912a5c3a.jpg?v=
