Magnum Posted July 20, 2009 #1 Share Posted July 20, 2009 Hello all, We are sailing on the Carnival Glory This weekend and we still have no idea what excursions, if any, we want to take. Our ports will be as follows: Cozumel Belize Costa Maya Nassau Looking at the excursions offered by Carnival can get quite expensive. I don’t plan on spending five or six hundred dollars on tours. Can anybody give me some tips for nice relaxing things to do while we are in port? I don’t mind spending some money but I really am just looking for a nice day at a beach or shopping. I don't really care to visit Mayan Ruins or spend all day on a bus. Any suggestions for each of these ports? Thanks P.S. I was looking at the cooking tour (Mexican Cuisine Cooking & Tasting ) to Playa Mia in Cozumel. Is this worth the money?
Chasey Posted July 20, 2009 #2 Share Posted July 20, 2009 What about taking a segway tour? I hear those are fun! And you can't go wrong snorkeling - that's always a blast and pretty inexpensive.

palmtre2 Posted July 21, 2009 #4 Share Posted July 21, 2009 Take the #10 Jitney to the Paradise Island bridge take a walk on over, to your right just over the bridge is the Atlantis Marketplace - you can grab something to eat and/or drink here and shop the stores (for some items - the perfumery here is cheaper than shipboard stores). The marina view allows you to check out all the fabulous yachts, there are benches and tables all through the marketplace. You can access the Atlantis casino which has some awesome art, such as the murano glass chandeliers. Cabs aren't very expensive back to the ship just be sure to have the price set BEFORE you get to your destination. Cost $0, unless you use the casino or restaurants. Cheap souveniers can be found UNDER the PI bridge or at the strip mall across the street from the marketplace.

mimik1954 Posted July 22, 2009 #6 Share Posted July 22, 2009 Hi:)..we are just back from Nassau this past Sunday..had a fabulous time at Atlantis...actually booked a room thru PRICELINE.com..the cheapest room they have...double beds so we could have 4 waterpark tickets..$220.(came to a little over $50 each) a bargain:) (Carnival offers the same for $155.EACH.. NO EXTRA charges for anything...we checked in about 9:30 and asked if we could go to our room..usually they dont' let you in til about 3:00 but ask and they will switch rooms and give you one already cleaned :)it seems they do this all the time and were extremely helpful and friendly...we ordered room service sandwiches from the ship(carried our own ziploc bags :).(food is EXTREMELY expensive at Atlantis)..packed our water and drinks and went to our Beach Tower room and had lunch after playing at the waterpark...the lazy river is wonderful...we are all in our 50's and had a blast...waterslides, beautiful beaches...one of our best excursions ever :)
mamaza Posted July 23, 2009 #7 Share Posted July 23, 2009 For cooking in Cozumel: Try reading this thread. I'm thinking of trying her in 2011. http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?p=20476990#post20476990
brown_eyed_poet Posted July 26, 2009 #8 Share Posted July 26, 2009 I have been to several countries all over the world and the coolest thing I have ever experienced is standing on top of a 125 foot mayan temple in Belize. I didnt read a lot about this excursion on this website but decided to take it anyway. It's called xunantunich mayan ruins. It's a whole village. You get to actually climb the main temple...be careful and dont fall! Theres a whole mayan city there. I think there were about 7 uncoverd structures. Several other uncovered structures were obvious. It was all I could do not to dig them up myself. I have some great pics on myspace. Look in my photos under the Belize folder. http://www.myspace.com/simplyemilys A tour bus picks you up. It's a long drive which is good bc they have a tour guide and you get a free tour! Beautiful country..you get to see schools, mansions, thru the city, poor area, and beautiful landscapes. You will have the opportunity to shop. Buy some Cashew Wine...but be careful it makes you drunk twice...once when you drink it and then again the next day bc it ferments in body. They also serve you a local lunch on the way back. Make sure to book this tour through Carnival bc we were late getting back but they can't leave you if it's a carnival tour. This was the only excursion that we took thru carnival and I would 100% go again!! I really can't say enough about it. Take your camera and an extra memory card. scubagirrl Posted July 26, 2009 #9 Share Posted July 26, 2009 Take the #10 Jitney to the Paradise Island bridge take a walk on over, . The #10 jitney goes to Cable Beach. The #1 jitney goes to Paradise Bridge. (just ask the driver to stop at Hammerheads) To return to downtown, you must walk up 2 blocks to Shirley Street (which runs parallel to Bay Street) to catch the bus going back downtown. This area is not so nice.. so you may want to take a cab or ferry back to the dock.

I just made some reservations for my Destiny cruise in September and my Legend cruise in December [similar ports as your trip] through Island Marketing...google it. Had some great ideas for excursions and prices were much better than what you find on the ship...have used them before and no problems. They refund your deposit if your ship can't reach the port [like Grand Cayman]. Have fun!
