Jewel departing from New York

Making plans on the Jewel for a vacation. Could someone advise how far the dock is from the JFK Airport. Is there transportation from the airport directly to the ship? The ship is leaving at 4pm...does anyone know what the earliest time a person can board the cruiseship?

Any help would be appreciated.

Also can you elect to tip whom you feel is deserving, or do you have to have the $12 debited from your account each day.

its about 20 miles from JFK to the Manhattan cruise terminal. A New York City Yellow taxi has a fixed rate to and from JFK which is $45 plus toll and tip- and they are required to take you to the terminal. Boarding normally starts around 11:30am

 

The tipping is automatically added, if you remove it everything you give everybody(on the tip program) has to be turned in. If you leave it on and give something extra to those who you think deserve it they can keep it. If you want to reward someone without giving extra write a note to them and fill out a card at the front desk saying what they did. promotions and key assignments are sometimes made as a result of those cards....
