Kauai driving times

We are booking a helicopter tour on Kauai at either 1PM (meet at 12:15) or 4PM. We will have rental car all day. Is there enough to do and see within an hour or so from port if we take the earlier time? thanks!

Sure. From the airport you can head north a few miles and see the area around Wailua, or go south to Poipu. Getting to the port from Poipu is very easy - just take the first "Lihue Bypass" road and you'll basically bump right into your ship, metaphorically speaking.

 

I'm not quite sure of the timeframe you're talking about - from the end of the copter ride until XXX PM. But the airport is nicely situated to get you to several locales for an hour or so, and then back to Nawiliwili. If you do go north, to return to port take the road to the airport but continue straight at the light (where the airport is a left turn.) Where the road ends, turn left and it's downhill to the port. Very easy.

We took the 10:30 flight and were back in plenty of time to even do a little shopping before walking back to the ship. The down side of this is if the weather is not good that day. There would be no time to reschedule.

Silly question, but how long does it take to get from Poipu to Lihue Airport.

We already have a "Movies and Waterfalls" excursion booked for the 2nd day and it will take up the whole day until we leave port. Unfortunately I waited too long to book the helicopter tour on day 1 and all the morning times were booked. So we decided to book the 1PM tour so we would have more time when we're done to explore further. Hopefully the weather will cooperate!! Getting excited! We will arrive in Oahu 2 weeks from today!

Silly question, but how long does it take to get from Poipu to Lihue Airport.

My guess is 30 to 45 min car ride, it's about 15 miles.
