On way to Denali

There is a new grocery store just south of the Princess McKinley lodge on Rt3. It's at the intersection where you would turn off for Telkeetna. The bus driver told us before that store opened they had to travel to Wasilla (90 miles south). We didn't go in this store, but there were many cars in the parking lot. Didn't see anything of that size store on the main road from McKinley to Denali.

I will be driving from Anchorage to Denali, where is the best place to exit for groceries. Things like water, soda, bread may be lunch meat for sandwiches. And snacks?

We stocked up at the WalMart in Wasilla. it has everything. There is even a McDonald's in there for a quick bite to eat.

Following Budget Queen's advice, we stopped at the Fred Meyer store in Wasilla while traveling from Anchorage to Denali. It had everything and then some, from groceries to jewelry to shoes and lots of character! If you prefer, there is also a new Target and a Wal-Mart in Wasilla.

Wasilla has it all except the big box stores (Costco & Sam's) and besides Freddy's, WalMart and Target we have our local grocery Carrs/Safeway.

They actually just opened a Walgreen's out there. Still waiting for ours here in the South side of town to open (should be within the next couple of weeks) and we'll get another Target here in town in October. Like this especially since I'll only have about a 3-4 mile drive versus having to go clear (well it's is about 20 minutes) across town!

Susan in Anchorage :)
