KimSLP Posted July 24, 2009 #1 Share Posted July 24, 2009 Has anyone stayed in with the Metropole or the Michelangelo? Will be staying in October and wanted any thoughts. ;)
Susan-M Posted July 24, 2009 #2 Share Posted July 24, 2009 While waiting for responses here, a good place to see a lot of reviews, written by people who have stayed at these hotels, is on Tripadvisor (sister site to CC). http://rome-hotels.tripadvisor.com/Hotel_Review-g187791-d203081-Reviews-Starhotels_Metropole-Rome_Lazio.html http://rome-hotels.tripadvisor.com/Hotel_Review-g187791-d203056-Reviews-Starhotel_Michelangelo-Rome_Lazio.html
nonrev1 Posted July 24, 2009 #3 Share Posted July 24, 2009 We stayed at the Star Hotel - Metropole 3 years ago prior to our cruise. They had just finished remodeling all of the rooms and were starting to remodel the restaurant and lobby areas. The hotel was great. For a European hotel, the rooms were very large. The staff was wonderful and the location was ideal for us. We wanted to stay close to the train station so we would be able to take the train to the port. It was about two/three blocks away so it was an easy walk and it was also close to the HOHO buses. If you have any other questions, I would be happy to try to answer them. Thank you for the information. How close is it to the Vatican and other sights?
nonrev1 Posted July 24, 2009 #5 Share Posted July 24, 2009 It is not close to the Vatican...but, close to Termini Station(the main train station). We bought tickets on the HOHO and got off at The Vatican stop and spent most of the day at the Vatican. Most other sights were easy to walk to from the hotel. We walked from the hotel to the Spanish Steps, Trevi Fountain, Forum, Coliseum etc.. We were there in late August and it was very hot, but living in Florida, it was not worse than what we have here in the summers. - but it looks like you are also from Florida.:)
