xandmoo Posted July 31, 2009 #1 Share Posted July 31, 2009 My husband and I will be traveling on The Adventure of the Sea departing from San Juan on the 7 day Southern Caribbean. We are looking to book excursion in each port but we don't want to pay RC big bucks... Any suggestions.
YoungGangMom Posted August 1, 2009 #2 Share Posted August 1, 2009 I am using Stmaartencruiseexcursions.com They offer a variety of tours. Good luck!
gtaylor Posted August 1, 2009 #3 Share Posted August 1, 2009 When any website posts incorrect information I am leery. They (Stmaartencruiseexcursions.com) claim that Orient is a 5 mile beach: Your next destination will be the world class Orient Beach. Again, wonderful panoramic views along the way to this clothing optional, five mile long beach that sports plenty of French Ooh-la-la. With is aqua blue waters and range of water sports activities, this is THE beach destination in St Maarten, overlooked by green hills and colorful flowers. Orient is only 1.3 miles, tip to tip, that is so wrong by any measure. They also miss on the history of the building of Fort St. Louis in Marigot by a mere century. gary I report, you decide. Stacey779 Posted August 1, 2009 #4 Share Posted August 1, 2009 We've never done a tour on St. Martin (only been there one other time) and, like you, we don't like to book directly through the cruise line. I've done a lot of research on these boards and finally decided to book a tour with Bernard for our December cruise that stops there. He basically does an island tour with a stop at Orient Beach. It seems like a great way to see the island and enjoy the beach. I can't vouch for him since I haven't actually taken the tour yet, but if you search these boards you'll find that many people recommend him. Good luck with your planning! Thanks for the information. I also found two other websites that claim the beach is 2 miles, not 5 or 1.3. I don't think people who write these articles pay much attention to detail. However, I have read some really good reviews regarding the tour company so I feel confident in our choice. I always appreciate others incite though. :)
Name Of The Game Posted August 1, 2009 #6 Share Posted August 1, 2009 We've toured with Bernard twice. He will take you to Orient Beach, Maho Beach, shopping at the end of the day if you want, and tell you all about the french and dutch sides of the island. http://bernardstours.com/
vtxriders Posted August 4, 2009 #7 Share Posted August 4, 2009 We used Joyce Prince (http://www.joyceprince.com/Personal%20Tours.htm). We hired her for an all day private tour. It was fantastic and very reasonably priced. She covered all of the typical sight seeing sites plus some of her own suggestions. She let's you design the tour around what you want to do. She does do group tours, as well. You will not be disappointed!
