We tried it on the Zuiderdam because we could sign up for treatments for $25 each instead of $50 each on the first day. We signed up for 2 treatments each and after the first one, we canceled the second ones.

 

It wasn't at all like is explained in the link above because it wasn't operating properly and the staff didn't listen to us when we told them the headphone speakers were cracked and too much static was coming through. They told us they were new headphones so they couldn't be cracked.

 

Also, they had it in the waiting room area where people came in before their massages, etc. and it was very noisy.

 

It actually became quite annoying to be in it because of the lack of private space and damaged headphones.

 

That being said, Your results may vary on a different ship with a unit that is properly set up.

 

The spa staff knew very little about it except how to put you in it and set the timer. "30 minutes in it will feel like a 3 hour nap". Yeah, right. I'll take a 3 hour nap for free and would feel better than after 30 minutes in the capsule on the Zuiderdam.

 

The aromatherapy was a lavender filled mask for over your eyes (which they used on both of us ... and who knows how many others.)

The vibrating massage part of it was no more than what you would get in one of the old 25 cent vibrating beds in a hotel.

 

We are not unfamiliar with alternative modalities, but this was just a joke.
