Dunns River Falls

Recommended Posts

Does anyone know if there are lockers for rent at the falls? If not where do you put your stuff while climbing? And can you buy bottled sodas in the gift shops or package store on the Navigator? Thanks

Yes you can rent a locker. They are a good size. And don't cost much, can't remember exactly how much sorry.

Not sure about the soda purchase.

yes, there are lockers at dunns falls. although i wouldn't trust them with anything valuable.

it was $3 or $4 to rent a lock.

also, if you go -- buy a waterproof disposable camera -- leave you "good" camera on the ship!

have fun -- Pete

Thanks for replys. We will only put dry cloths in the lockers and take our disposable underwater cameras. Guess I'll just buy a six-pack of diet cafefine free in bottles and put in carry on.

The lockers are quite large but as mentioned don't put anything REALLY valuable in there. You give the person at the desk $8 deposit and they give you a lock and key. When you return the lock and key you get $3 back.

Oh, I forgot - there is a small shop selling drinks / snacks near the lockers but we didn't buy anything there (took our own water) so I'm not sure on price or selection. This is at the top of the falls.

I've done the Dunns River Falls climb three times, and I've never used a locker. I don't recall what we did with our stuff the first two times, but I distinctly remember that the last time (July 2000), we were asked to leave our stuff on a picnic table on the beach, and someone stood watch over it. There weren't any problems that I was aware of.

When we went our cab diver put our stuff in his trunk (nothing valuable) and met us later at the top. He didn't get paid until we got back to the ship. It worked out great. When we got to the top he was there waiting for us with our towels. The venders on the top can be a little scarey. I agree with the poster above leave your good camera and bring a waterproof one.

Are towels provided at the falls or do you bring the towel from the ship?

We brought our own towels to Dunns. The post about the vendors being scary is right-on. My family made a beeline for the exit next to the entry to the park saying one on the kids was sick. Security allowed us to bypass the vendor village.

My wife can not climb the falls themselves but we would like to see the falls. Is there a path or something else to do at the falls?

thanks - Duane

There's a pathway (mostly stairs) beside the falls all the way between the beach and the top. I think you can get a pretty good view from there.
