Whimsy Posted August 6, 2009 #1 Share Posted August 6, 2009 Is anyone here familiar with driving down I-55 in Mississippi? We might drive down on Saturday and would like to stop somewhere along the way, just have a few hours finish the drive on Sunday to New Orleans. It looks like Jackson Mississippi might be our best bet to stop for the night. Just wondering if anyone knows if there is something further along with some decent motel rooms. crewsin250 Posted August 23, 2009 #2 Share Posted August 23, 2009 There are like 6 hotels in McComb, Days inn ,HIExpress, comfort, Hawthorne suite, BW, not as many choices as Jackson but it will be a shorter drive to NO. A state park Percy Quinn, hope this helps. Paul
Ocean Spirit Posted October 4, 2009 #3 Share Posted October 4, 2009 We stopped and stayed in Hammond. I believe it was a Micotel. Simple but clean. There is a Best Western there too which we are considering. It was about a 45 minute to an hour drive to the pier. Left around 9:30am drove, parked and was on the boat by noon. futaba951 Posted October 5, 2009 #4 Share Posted October 5, 2009 Avoid the Scottish Inn just off the interstate in Memphis. (If it's still there) It is a crack house that charges rent. And being a half mile from the airport, you will be awakened at 3am by about 50 Fed Ex jets taking off for a couple of hours. One right after the other. If it is not a crack house, meth lab or hookers everywhere, then you might wake up and have no car. Keep heading South...way south!!
Little Maggie Posted November 23, 2009 #6 Share Posted November 23, 2009 We stayed in McComb, Ms at the Hampton Inn just off I55. Oct. 30 for our Oct 31 sailing on the Fantasy. The hotel is fairly new, the staff very friendly and helpful. They also have a hot breakfast each morning. It is less than a 2 hr drive to port. Have a happy cruise.
