Question for Completion of Luggage Tag

Recommended Posts

We are completing our luggage tags for our HAL Tour #18 beginning August 9. Because we actually land in Fairbanks and then board the ship 7 days later in Seward, what do we put for embarkation airport? Is it better to just leave embarkation blank?

Sorry to be so confused on such a simple matter.

Thanks in advance for your help!

We did the same thing. Luggage is handled differently in AK. Embarkation airport isn't important, and you can leave it blank. You'll identify your bags to HAL employees right at the airport claim turnstile, and they will bring it to your hotel by truck. From then on your bags go by truck from place to place, not in the bus/train that you are on. You are given diferent coded tags to put on each time you move to a new location. Our bags always beat us to the next night's room!

You are allowed to send bags on ahead to the ship from your first night in Fairbanks, so anything that you will not need until the ship (like formal clothes) can be packed in a different bag, and don't have to dealt with. They'll be in your cabin when you get on the ship.

Our CruiseTour 18 ticket packet had the TOUR baggage tags, and sticky labels pre-prepared by HAL with our name, res # and hotels, in order. Easy-peasy.

For the CRUISE baggage tags, we just put name and cabin #. Since CT 18 has the cruise after the land portion, the bags will be taken directly to the ship after our last hotel night. So airport information isn't important in this case, I think ....
