transportation to UofA museum

We're staying at the Westmark in Fairbanks. We want to go to the University of Alaska museum. Do you recommend booking excursion with the cruise line or doing this on our own? How much is a taxi? How long should we plan on staying at the museum? Is it only open at night for the cruise line excursions?

Check with the hotel to see if they have a shuttle. I stayed at Sophie Station and they provided a shuttle.

 

The cruise tour I was on also went there. While it is a nice museum you don't need hours to see it. We went during the day.

We stayed at the Westmark last year and they had a shuttle that took us to the museum. They dropped us off and asked us what time we would like to be picked up. We spent a couple hours there on our last day while we waited to go to the airport and really enjoyed it.
