catchycan Posted August 10, 2009 #1 Share Posted August 10, 2009 We just came back from our summer cruise and decided to go to Reggae Beach rather than take a ship tour. We heard it was a beautiful ,quiet, safe beach to go to on our own and we weren't disappointed. First of all, it was gorgeous - we felt like we were at one of those picture perfect beaches you see on postcards. Secondly, we were pleasantly surprised to find out that Bamboo Beach club had moved there. We originally thought about going to Bamboo Beach, but it wasn't being sold on our ship. Anyway, we had an excellent time there - all you can eat food and drinks and wonderful entertainment - we especially enjoyed the Jamaican drummers who gave the beach a real authentic reggae feel. We were also impressed with the hostesses who were very attentive and friendly. Just thought I'd share our experience since it was so unexpected and fun! ginoboy Posted August 11, 2009 #2 Share Posted August 11, 2009 Hi, we were also at Bamboo Beach Club a couple of weeks ago. We originally organized something to do on our own in Jamaica, but after hearing the hype on the ship about the beach club moving to Reggae Beach, we decided to go there. It was fantastic! Beautiful beach, clear warm water, great music, good food and drinks, nice entertainment - everything we were looking for in Jamaica. We went to Dunn's River Falls first, which was tons of fun. Really a great day to remember!
RMLERL Posted August 11, 2009 #3 Share Posted August 11, 2009 How did everyone book this? Did you just go to Reggae Beach by Taxi and just show up or did you book throught their site or another site? I am looking a couple of the tours they offer, any info would be great.
framertamer Posted August 13, 2009 #4 Share Posted August 13, 2009 We're considering bamboo beach club and were wondering if it's a good place for kids. We're going with our three children ages 8-15 and want a place that we will all enjoy.
catchycan Posted August 16, 2009 Author #5 Share Posted August 16, 2009 We actually went there on our own. When we arrived we realized it was the new location of Bamboo Beach Club. We took a taxi there - it was about a 10 minute ride. At the gate they gave us the option of paying a $9 entrance fee to just sit on the beach OR a $55 fee that would include all of Bamboo Beach Club - food, drinks, chair, towel and entertainment - we choose the all inclusive package. It was so much fun and worth the $55. Also noticed quite a few kids there. It's a great family style beach!
QTMichele Posted August 16, 2009 #6 Share Posted August 16, 2009 Is there a website? Do you have pictures? We went to Reggae in March 2007 - it was very quiet with only a handful of people (mostly local). Has the atmosphere changed much since the beach club has moved there? Is there a building/restaurant now (besides the small "hut" that was there previously)? Details, please! FYI We booked with Marva Shaw when we went - had a great time. She's still offering Reggae as a destination on her web site.
