klb1978 Posted August 11, 2009 #1 Share Posted August 11, 2009 I was wondering if anyone has toured the forts in Nassau? We are thinking of going to Blue Lagoon Island but my husband wants to tour one of the forts. I was hoping someone had a recommendation as to one that was good. I do see that Fort Charlotte is pretty close to the cruise ships so we could do that first thing in the morning and then catch the 10:30am ferry to the island. Any suggestions would be appreciated! rednose83 Posted August 13, 2009 #2 Share Posted August 13, 2009 Fort Fincastle is pretty close to the pier and it's a 2-fer. You can see the fort and the Queen's staircase at the same time. They are right by the water tower. See this site for a map: http://www.frommers.com/destinations/newprovidence/0251010008.html
bguppies Posted August 15, 2009 #3 Share Posted August 15, 2009 Fort Fincastle is a 15-20 minute walk from the pier. (tops) (I'm pretty sure it is closer than Charlotte) The view from the Fort is amazing. Like the previous poster said, you also get the beauty of the Queen's Staircase below the fort. The fort itself is free to tour. The tourguides there work for tips. (so if they are helpful, don't stiff them) Bill
