jessalared Posted August 12, 2009 #1 Share Posted August 12, 2009 was just wondering while in georgetown if we were to just take a taxi to 7 mile beach, is there any body renting out snorkeling equipment for the day or anything of that sort?? Lsimon Posted August 15, 2009 #2 Share Posted August 15, 2009 There is little or no good snorkeling at public access on 7 mile beach. If you want great snorkeling then when you get off the tender boat walk to your left down the road about 5 to 10 minuites - about 1/4 mile - to Eden Rock. There are two places to rent snorkeling gear. I prefer the second - passing the first by about 50 yards. You don't have to rent if you bring your own. There isn't a beach here (although the first place has some sand down and a few chairs for rent, so you're entering the water down ladders or stairs along a rocky shore. This is fantastic snorkeling. The best reefs are about 100 yards out by the round bouys - be sure to ask the people who work there to point out which bouys to swim out to, and which (further out) not to pass. This is one of our favorite places to snorkel in the Caribbean. We've been there about 5 times, once or twice the currents were a bit strong causing poor visibility and a tough swim out to the reefs. Ask about this before you rent. If this is the case then most other places on that side of the island will also be effected and you might want to take a sting ray city excursion which stops at some nice reefs too - there are usually people selling these at the tender docks. http://www.edenrockdive.com/index.htm http://www.edenrockdive.com/Snorkeling.htm
