Forgive my ignorance- What is a "hump cabin"

Recommended Posts

Can't tell you which is better, but a hump cabin is in the curved area that is higher up on the ship.

The bump is the area that extends out on the ship kind of like a bay window extends out on a house. The cabins on the bump are "prime real estate" so to speak, with the middle of the bump being the best. On our Brilliance cruise we were in cabin 8596, and liked it so much that we are in the same cabin on the Jewel for our upcoming cruise.

If you want to see what it's like, check out our website at the link below my signature. Look under the Mediterranean cruise for the Brilliance, sister ship to the Serenade.

One thing that you do want to watch out for if you don't book the bump. Many of the cabins on deck 7 have a slightly obstructed view because of a cover over the lifeboats. So check the deck diagrams and choose wisely.

In my younger days I probabley knew what a "hump" cabin might be, but now just remembering the cabin number is a feat!

You might have a little problem with seeing the back, but not too much; and you'll be able to see forward just fine. Your balcony will have a little angle to it. If you will go to http://www.cruise2.com/DeckPlanMenu.html it will give you diagrams of the decks of any ship on any cruise line. But remember, the diagrams are not to scale; but it will give you some idea of what you are getting. Hope this helps.
