Debarking Times?

Our cruise is Wonder Sept 6th and I was wondering if I could request a later debarking time.

Ship ports at 7:15am and our flight does not leave until 4:15pm so I was wondering how late I can stay on the ship? Is it possible to request a later time?

If we can not debark later than any suggestions on what we can do for 8 hours and still make our flight? We are using the DCL transfers but if anyone can suggest anything esle we would be flexible to change that. Let me know and thanks.

DCL does not assign disembarkation times like other cruiselines - once customs gives the ok to start disembarkation, you can disembark at your leisure, but they want everyone off by 9am. You will be assigned a sit down breakfast time for the last morning based on your dinner rotation (early dinner gets early breakfast, late dining gets later breakfast). If you do not want to go to your assigned breakfast, the buffet is also open.

There are a TON of things to choose in the Orlando to kill some time until your flight. Just depends on what you like. Do you have children? What are their ages? Downtown Disney is always fun. Kennedy Space Center is in Cape Canaveral, but you may need more time to get that all in.

You can save money by foregoing the DCL transfers and doing a one way car rental from the port to MCO - this would give you the flexibility in finding something to do before heading to the airport. It's about a 45 minute drive from the port to MCO.

Another option would be to just get a day room at the Hyatt that is located right in the airport terminal and just relax until your flight- they have a nice pool area on the roof - you could have lunch there or in the airport...

No, you have to be out of your cabin by 8AM, and off the ship by 9AM. They have to get the ship ready for the next group of guests...

Our flight home is 3:20PM, so we are renting a car one way from Budget and going to Downtown Disney for lunch.

I see that your are taking Disney transfers, take the Disney cruiseline transfers to the airport and rent a day room at the Hyatt. You can swim, take a rest, and get ready for your flight home.

Thank you for the tips. We are a family of 4 with 2 Children aged 3yr and 2yrs old.

If we did rent a car do they provide car seats? If we had some time we were thinking about doing some shopping in Orlando? I heard that the Premium and Prime Outlets were pretty good or do you have any other suggestions where to go. Thanks for all the assistance.

Debarking times don't usually start until about 8:00 and you can stay on board as long as about 10:00. What I usually suggest is go to the beach. Shepard Park is the main entrance to Cocoa Beach and has rest rooms and shower house right there and restaurants are close by. The Dinosaur Store is a little over a block away and Ron Jons is right around the corner - things for the kids. Cocoa Beach Shuttle has been known to drop people off at the beach and hold their luggage and pick them back up to go to the airport. You should just pack a small bag or backpack for things you'll need at the beach.

Bill,

Do you think it is possible to make a 10:50 plane. Disney is saying not to book before 12:30. We can either get the 10:50 or we need to wait around until 4:00. We have three children(7,5,1) and really don't want to wait around. Any info would be great.

As long as the ship gets in on time and it clears customs or immigration whatever it has to clear.

My last 2 cruises I've been sitting in the airport at the latest 9am. The last time as I mentioned we were there at 8:20am and that was by going on the Disney bus and doing the luggage express.

If for some odd reason there is a problem with the ship all bets are off.

I think that all rental car companies have car seats, but most do charge to use them. I think around $10 per day per seat is typical. We like both of the outlets you mentioned. There is some overlap, but they each have some different stores. You can check online to find out which match your tastes. Both sometimes offer online coupons plus you can get additional coupon books at their customer service counters if you have a AAA membership. Happy Shopping!

Yes, it IS possible. But, if you are on the rare cruise that has some issue with the ship, weather, customs, etc. that is delayed getting back to port....then you are stuck at the airport, with 3 kids, trying to book new flights. You didn't say whether your flights have a connection, but that might make it even harder to find new flights.

Since you are taking a Disney cruise, with no casino, I assume you're not a big gambler. Do you really want to take the gamble that, after a great vacation, you will face the tension and worries of getting to the airport in time?

Thanks for all you help. As far as a car rental goes I am booking with Avis as they seem to be the only company that quotes car seats online. That being said the closest location seams to be

Avis - Cape Canaveral

6650 North Atlantic Ave

The are asking me what time for pick up and I picked 830am. Does anyone know the process? When I debark will there be someone with a sign waiting for me or do I proceed to a designated area? Thanks for all the help.

When you get off the ship the shuttles are usually parked against the fence. Just ask anybody and they'll point you in the right direction.

One time they were sitting there waiting. Another time I had to wait 10-15 minutes.

The shuttle will take you over to their office which is about 5 minutes away. You're usually on the road within 15 minutes.

Have fun.
