Balcony on Rhapsody

Recommended Posts

We booked cabin 7660 (center aft balcony) on Rhapsody.

It's our first balcony and the price was right. After reading some of the other postS about aft balconies, I wonder if it's a good decision versus having a balcony on the side of the ship.

There will be two adults and two kids.

Thanks!

As I recall, people from above can look down on your balcony. But you should be fine - I think the aft ones are a little larger anyway.

Thanks, Wolf!

Is it people from a public area or from the balcony above that can look down? Is that the case for all of the aft balconies? Can they see the whole balcony area or just the front? I know my husband would like to have privacy if possible.

Lisa,

I have a great picture of the aft of Rhapsody. If I knew how I would post on here but if you want me to e-mail to you, I'll be happy to. I took the picture to show a client that was trying to decide if she wanted the corner. When she saw the picture there was no doubt!

If someone wants to give me directions, I'll post here.

We just got off the Rhapsody and had an aft balcony 8090, it was not the corner, but the one right next to it. The balcony was the same width as a regular JS, but much deeper. I loved having the additional space, but the downside to me, was that it didn't seem to get much breeze. It was very hot sitting outside during the day. In my opinion, if I couldn't have the aft corner, I think I'd take a side balcony. But I guess it depends on when you're going to be using it.

In answer to your original question, the only part of the balcony on the level below us that I could see was the very edge. If someone was standing at the railing, I could see them, but other than that, I couldn't.

Thanks ACCagent, I got the pic and it's great. The balcony on the corner cabin looks to be about 3 times the size of the other balconies.
Kathy and Ed will be very happy.

We love the aft balconies, they are so much larger than the side ones. We just got back from Grandeur and had a corner balcony on deck7. Even though the corners wrap around a bit and are a bit larger, we have had aft balconies in the center. The main advantage is that the slope of the ship gives you a balcony that's 12'-15' deep as well as wide as your cabin. The side balconies are only as wide as your cabin and about 4' deep. The overhang of the balcony above you gives you plenty of privacy but still allows for a sunny deck chair some of the day.

These cabins still being the same catagory as the side balconies is one of the most amazing thing of cruise pricing.

rcclbound, we too are looking forward to it. This is our first cruise and it can't get here soon enough. We will be in 7156. It's on the stern of the ship. I've just learned the stern is the back but not yet sure which is port and which is starboard. I'm sure I have a lot to learn in the next few months, lol.
