It depends on how long you'll be staying in Santiago and what you want to do there. If you're only there for a day and will be taking a guided tour, the Ritz would be great I would think -- it's in the Las Condes district, which is a hotel center but rather remote from the main areas of Santiago. If you plan to stay for a few days and want to be in a part of the city with easier access, I'd suggest the Providencia District.

 

I stayed in Las Condes for a week about 10+ years ago, and in Providencia for 3 or 4 days a couple of years back. While the hotels are more upscale in LC, I prefer Providencia. Wherever you decide upon, try Astrid and Gaston Restaurant -- we went back twice!
